Autistic Maker videos
Autistic story makers from across Canada (Turtle Island), the United Kingdom and Aotearoa (New Zealand) created videos on the Re•Storying Autism project about their experiences of education between 2016-2022. The videos in this exhibit challenge global North, settler colonialist, biomedical and deficit perspectives of Autism. They were made in online and in person workshops, before and after COVID-19. To view family and kin videos, click on the link at the bottom of this page.
Content note: The stories in the videos shared below contain the full range of human experience, from joy to trauma. We invite you to consider what we call a care-full neuro-crip beholding of the videos—perhaps stopping and starting the film, having a comfort item close by, reaching out to someone you trust, stimming or something else that makes you feel good. You can also write to us about your experience of the video exhibit at the end of this page.
