Audio Description:

This is a 2-minute introduction for Frances Woods’ video entitled Why. This introduction will describe the majority of the visuals for the video. During the video I will say a cue word to indicate changes as new visuals not expressed through the films’ narrative. Frances narrates the film. Here are the ten cue words and brief visual descriptions in order of appearance followed shortly by the film.

Lava. Lava indicates throughout the film a continuous series of 5-second views of a volcano from above. A crater shape filled with churning, orangey-red lava. Black crust continually forming and being broken. Smoke or steam rising from the lava. Some views are closer, showing only churning lava and the crust formations with licks of lava leaping up as the liquid seems to bubble. When mentioned, the footage reverses. Other images in the video briefly appear underneath this lava image, unless otherwise mentioned. Rollercoaster. Rollercoaster indicates a brief view of the loops of a rollercoaster track followed by a kite flying in the sky. Sonny and Cher. Sonny and Cher indicates a black and white photo of a smiling Sonny and Cher. It appears as a grid of 9 of the same image. TP roll. TP roll indicates a cartoon illustration of a bright purple roll of toilet paper. The image is over top the lava and takes up most of the view. House. House indicates a large, two-story house with a gabled roof surrounded by shrubbery and a large yard. Map. Map indicates a black and white city of Toronto map. Tasty. Tasty indicates the brightly colored candy crush game scorecard with grids of candies and the word tasty in orange letters. This image is over top the lava and takes up the whole view. Taylor. Taylor indicates a photo of Taylor Swift from the waist up and looking up and to the left she wears red lipstick and a sparkly gold sleeveless top. Rocks. Rocks indicate a rock-covered ground. Eggs. Eggs indicate brown eggs and eggshells sitting in green grass. Closed captions appear white letters black background.
