Inservice learning and beyond – Knowing and supporting autistic learners. Vijaya Dharan, psychologist, Director of Academic Programs and associate professor at Massey University will talk about in-service teacher training to develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of neurodiversity, culture and intersectionality in Aotearoa New Zealand, in alignment with obligations to Tiriti O Waitangi principles of Partnership, Protection and Participation between Māori and non-Māori.

Jaqui Getfield, Mikhail Getfield Francis, & Joaqui Getfield Francis. They Don't Want to Speak WITH Me, Mom: Mothering the Other. In this session, Dr. Jacqui Getfield, a Black mother-scholar and her sons, Mic and Jay, share their lived experiences through words and images as they grapple with alienation and disregard, overt discrimination and anti-Black racism coupled with ableism in public school.

In this keynote Decolonizing Autism: Insights from a Community-Led Research Study, Grant Bruno talks about the under-representation of Indigenous people in the discourse around autism. Drawing from his experience as a parent and member of Samson Cree Nation, Grant will explore ideas on how to better support Indigenous families with autistic children by incorporating Indigenous perspectives and knowledge.
